Hi,

I redid my floors over the weekend. I had read your www page, so I knew what to rent. However, I got talked out of using your machines. In part because I was afraid of gouging the floors, and in part, because the folks at (Deleted) said the 130 lb orbital sander would do just fine. After 10 hours with the orbital, after wasting 125 dollars on paper, I was left with floors that looked terrible. I called it quits.

A good friend convinced me to rent a drum sander and do it right. Being anxious to finish this project, I called and rented a Silver Line drum, and edger. What a difference. The floors look fantastic, level, with all the old stain/dirt/gouges removed. They really used great wood back in the early '50s.

The sander was easy to use, and worked like a charm. If you ever want a testimonal letter that bashes orbital, and praises your machines, just let me know.

I've got pictures of the before, after orbital, and after your machines, they speak volumes. I intend to write (Deleted) and complain. While I got my money back for the rental, I still am out $125 in sandpaper and two days of wasted effort.

Hi John,

Thanks for the note back. I'm actually going to write (Deleted) and complain - in part they deceived me, in part they didn't know enough to know better. If they want me happy, I'll need a refund on $125 dollars in sand paper.

I was really pissed at myself and the guys who steered me wrong.

Please, use my letter as a testimonal. If it's for your web page, do me a favor, and use a different email address for me. I don't want my work address associated with a testimonial for a home product.

My other email is (Deleted)

My home address is:

I found you like I find everything! else on the net. Used AltaVista (search engine) with the keywords "wood floors" and refinish hit about 20 sites, of which yours was the most informative.

I have just finished sanding a hard wood floor in my house. I would not have been able to do it without the tips that I found on your internet sight. It has been a real help and saved the floor from being carpeted, thanks for providing it.

Your equipment has been a dream to use, the end product looks great.

Thanks again

Hello!

My wife and I decided to refinish our old hardwood floor. We rented your sanders and they made the job easier than we had expected. I think I enjoyed the effort.

My local rental company has recommended that I use "Fabulon" products to finish the job..... WHERE CAN I FIND FABULON PRODUCTS IN NORTHERN CALIFORNIA?

By the way I have to rent your sanding equipment again so I can pull someone elses inferior finish off the floor. (Ill do that this weekend)

Told you I enjoyed it!

thanks

Hey John and good morning. (2:00 am saturday)

If I would have known to talk to my rental guy in advance, he could have ordered Fabulon Chrystal Finish.. and had it in stock when I needed it.

The learning process sorta went backwards in my case. I didn't know about Fabulon until after I had completed my floor the first time.. That's when the rental guy loaned me the video!

My wife and I were absolutely displeased with the finish we originally chose. I hated the color.. She hated the smell. AND OUR FURNITURE IS STILL IN THE GARAGE AFTER 10 DAYS OF INTENSE DEBATE.

The debate was really weather we should lite a match to the floor, or go see our friend, the rental man again!

We could'nt find ANY info about Fabulon finishes ANYWHERE on the web. So we searched for "essex-silver-line" from yahoo... I remembered the name of the sanders from the first time we rented them. Bingo! Downloaded your entire site, and read all night.

Right now your sanders are cooling off after a very long night of saving my back! There heavy, well balanced and easy to use. Undoubtedly the right tool for my 800 square foot job. Even for the second time in two weeks!

I am pretty sure that Fabulon products are sold in Chico at ONE rental place. Its bout an hour from here, but worth the drive... Our floor deserves it.

John.. You said that I could have been a customer.. I am convinced that Fabulon is the ONE product I will like. That's why we ripped 180 dollars off the floor tonight... I think you can call me a customer now.

good night

Loved the how to refinish section. Will be renting your machine at (Deleted) on Sat.

Thanks for the information.

Thanks John,

I rented from (Deleted) Rental - their price beat everyone by at least $7 a day and the sandpaper prices beat all too! The sl-8 was a dream to use, ...

Thanks again!

As far as your Web Page is concerned it's wonderful, just needs interactive area for rental inquiries!

By the way, your drum sander worked great!

Hi (Deleted)

I REALLY appreciate your note. You have confirmed what I stumbled onto. That is, the Silverline floor sander--which I found at (Deleted) Rents in (Deleted). I just finished the second and last part of my refinishing project, my livng room and dining room, and the result is beautiful!

For the first part, bedrooms and hallway, I did use the (Deleted), and have found the difference between sanders to be tremendous. The Silverline is slower, but I had much more control, and that made all the difference.

M

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Just a quick P.S. about how I used the Silverline.

Looking back, I probably didn't have to do this, but because of the less than excellent result I got with the (Deleted), I decided to mix equipment.

After I rough sanded with the Silverline .... I also super fine sanded with the flat plate sander @ 120-grit. Between coats of polyurethane I used a buffer with 100-grit screens that I rubbed down on the side walk.

(For any future sanding projects, I might just try the Silverline by itself.)

Mike

Rental Store Testimonials:

If you own a rental store, and don't own Silver-Line yet, read some of these testimonials!

"I spend more money running my compressor blowing off my Silver-Line sanders than I do on maintenance on the machines"
(John Patton...Under the Sun Rental, Belfast ME)

"Our customers love it, it's a work horse"...."Real good unit"
(Don Doonan...Just Ask Rental, Allen TX)

"Fantastic Machine...minimal maintenance...we had these for 20-25 years"
(Norm Berk...Rent-it Center, Mechanicsberg, PA)

The following exerpts of an article were reprinted with the permission of our
Australia-wide distributor
Crommelins Machinery:

John Spinks of Active Hire, Sydney, says, "I've got 30 SilverLines for two very good reasons."

"First, since I bought my original sander in August '93, I've never had to replace a single drum flap, guard or dust snorkel!"

"Secondly, because they're strong and reliable but real simple to use, customers demand, 'I want the silver one'."

"Our business depends on our machines performing flawlessly every time. Repeat business proves SilverLines do just that. I sure wouldn't have 30 of them if they didn't!" he said.

After having had many other brands of sanders and edgers, Active Hire recently switched exclusively to the US-manufactured, SL7 edge and SL8 floor sanders, fully-imported by Crommelins, sole Australia-wide distributors of SilverLine products.

"People were breaking plastic bits on our other machines all the time but with the solid aluminum bodies of the SilverLines, customer abuse has been essentially eliminated!"

"If your hire business includes sanding and edging machines, do yourself a favour. Get Crommelins to show you the SilverLines." John said. "Customers love them and if you're like us, you'll make more money out of these machines than any other sanders. SilverLines do what customers want and they don't break down like the others."
